Overview

Tax and Audit

Tax and statutory compliance should be predictable. For many businesses it is anything but: returns that do not match the books, credits that cannot be reconciled, deductions filed late, and notices that arrive with a short deadline.

Our Tax and Audit practice helps finance teams and business owners get ahead of that. We look at the numbers behind your filings, plan so that you pay what is due and no more, and build the records that make notices and audits routine rather than stressful.

Each engagement is scoped to a specific problem, with a named team and agreed outputs.

Questions

Tax and Audit: FAQs

What is the difference between direct and indirect tax?

Direct taxes, such as income tax, are charged on income or profit. Indirect taxes, such as GST, are charged on the supply of goods and services. Most businesses deal with both, and we help with planning and compliance for each.

Can you help if I have received a tax notice?

Yes. We review the notice, gather and organise the supporting records, and help prepare a reasoned reply. We also look at the wider process, so the same issue does not come back next year.

Does my company need a cost audit?

It depends on the industry you operate in and your company's size and turnover, under the Companies (Cost Records and Audit) Rules. We start with an applicability check and give you a clear answer in writing.

What does Section 148 of the Companies Act, 2013 cover?

Section 148 deals with maintenance of cost records and, for companies it applies to, a cost audit. We help you set up the records and prepare for the audit.

Will you tell me up front who must sign what?

Yes. Where a filing or certificate has to be signed by a specifically qualified professional, we say so in the written scope before work starts.
